Digital Transgender Archive
An interview with Na Choih, a Korean non-binary activist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At the time of this interview, they worked as the Youth Leadership Mentor for Climate Generation, a Twin Cities-based environmental justice organization. In this oral history interview, Choih discusses their upbringing and initial forays into trans politics, environmental activism, and anti-violence work in the Twin Cities, the events in Minneapolis in the summer of 2020 following the murder of George Floyd, and their experiences within those events. Specifically, they discuss the protests that occurred in the days immediately after Floyd's murder, the establishment and development of George Floyd Square/Floyd Town, the threats and realitites of white supremacist violence in South Minneapolis, their experience working overnight security at George Floyd Square, and their visions for racial justice, trans liberation, and a better future.
