Chase Strangio Oral History

Chase Strangio discusses their work as a leading LGBTQ legal advocate with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), including their representation of and connection to well-known former political prisoner and trans woman Chelsea Manning. Strangio reflects on the rise of anti-trans legislation nationally, the missteps of the LGBTQ rights movement, and the limits and role of legal advocacy in social movements. Strangio also recounts their own growing up, politicization and radicalization, and their prior work with the Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP).
