Herbert Campbell, dressed as a woman dressed as a man, addresses Dan Leno in the costume of one of the Guards' regiments. Herbert Campbell and Dan Leno were an extremely popular duo, appearing in several pantomimes at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, from the 1880s right up to the early years of the twentieth century. They both died in 1904. Here Campbell is seen in comic 'Dame' drag as an Amazon type of 'New Woman', terrorising the diminutive Leno
